Using the Singapore Math concrete, pictorial, and abstract method students learn about whole numbers, addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, fractions, time, and money.
Student learn and master the four operations with whole numbers, fractions, decimals, and integers.
Word problems require careful reading and creative application of math. Topics include time, money, perimeter, area, and volume.
Students consolidate their mastery of elementary school math, simplify and evaluate algebraic expressions, and solve complex word problems.
Stage 3 prepares students to qualify for and excel in Algebra I as seventh graders.
Singapore Math is the national math curriculum of Singapore. Students from Singapore regularly come out on top in international comparisons of national math achievement such as Trends in International Mathematics and Science Study (TIMSS) and the Program for International Student Assessment (PISA).

Steven Nossal founded Fairfax Collegiate, Northern Virginia's leading summer enrichment program. He has personally taught math to hundreds of students over the past thirty years. Mr. Nossal earned a B.A. in Economics from Yale University.
Chloe Xie is a Senior at Langley High School. Last year she completed Multivariable Calculus and Linear Algebra. This will be Chloe's second year teaching in Fairfax Collegiate's school year math programs.
