Where do you attend school and what activities are you involved in?

I am a student at the University of Virginia with a double major in Economics and Mathematics and two concentrations in Financial Math and Financial Economics. I am involved in the Mathematics, Economics, Women in Economics, Women in Math, Association for Computing Machinery, Society of Women in Computing, and Chess Clubs. Additionally in high school I was involved in National Honor Societies (Math, Science, Spanish, Music) and President of the ACE club (Architecture, Construction and Engineering).

What have your teaching opportunities been outside of Fairfax Collegiate?

Outside of Fairfax Collegiate I have tutored students in Algebra, Pre-Algebra, and Geometry. I have worked with children as a camp counselor, field hockey coach, and intern at the Children's Science Center.

What sort of experience have you had in the subject you’ll be teaching this summer?

I started programming in middle school and have taken a variety of coding classes throughout high school and college. At UVA I have learned Python, Java, and R. As a mathematics major I have taken many higher level math classes like, Calculus I, II, III, Ordinary Differential Equations, and planning to take Basic Real Analysis and Survey of Algebra.

What excites you about teaching and working with students?

What excites me most about teaching and working with students is the chance to share my enthusiasm for math and coding in a way that helps others gain confidence and curiosity. I love breaking down complex topics into ideas that click, and seeing that moment when a student suddenly gets it is incredibly rewarding. Being part of that learning process and watching students grow more confident is something I find truly meaningful.

Outside of work, what are some hobbies you enjoy?

Outside of work and school, I’m really passionate about film; I love watching movies, analyzing them, and even working on my own small projects. I’m fascinated by how storytelling, visuals, and sound come together to create something meaningful. I also stay active by playing field hockey, running, and being part of a workout club, CHAARG, at UVA. In my downtime, I enjoy playing the guitar and piano. I like keeping a balance between creative, active, and reflective activities.
